book review

I recently had the opportunity to review the recently released book entitled It Was Out of Love
by James S. Marr.
It Was Out of Love is a memoir that is “a true love story of deception, grace, and forgiveness.” It weaves you in, out, and around the life story of James Marr and his wife of 30 years, Melissa. Through James’ career in the air force, countless moves around the world, and his search for a home church, Melissa stood by her husband through it all. Melissa was supportive, loving and loyal to her husband. Despite all that, her past held many surprises that she hid for over 30 years.
As you read the book, you will fall in love with James and Melissa and their obvious love and devotion to each other. Only through his faith and through God’s assistance was James able to find forgiveness and peace from his wife’s deception. James is a true example of how to rely on God to find true forgiveness.
True forgiveness of someone I loved is something that I daily struggle with. It is not something that comes easy to us when we feel betrayed and hurt by someone we trust. James shows an amazing amount of grace and truly allows Jesus to shine through him in this story of forgiveness.
I definitely recommend this book if you are looking for an powerful message on forgiveness, grace and mercy. It is an inspiring book that will have you on your knees asking for God’s help.

If I Could Ask God Anything: Awesome Bible Answers for Curious Kidsby Kathryn Slattery
From the Book Sneeze website~
If I Could Ask God Anything is a unique kid-friendly book jam-packed with clear, fresh answers to important questions about God, faith, prayer, and Christianity in language that children can understand. Using kid-friendly language, established author Kathryn Slattery tackles “toughies” such as:
If God is invisible, how do I know He is real? Did Jesus live on Earth before or after the dinosaurs? Why should I go to church? When I die, do I become an angel with a halo and wings? How can the Holy Spirit help me? Does God stop loving me when I sin? This book will help young readers establish a closer relationship with God as well as help parents nurture their child’s mind and spirit with this well-rounded, Scripture-based guide.
My Review~
I thought this was a great book for young kids that are starting to think and learn about their own spirituality. It is clear and concise and gives a scriptural reference after each question has been answered. The topics cover everything from God to prayer to church to being a Christian forever.
I really enjoyed reading through the book myself. As a newer believer, these are often questions that I have personally had and wondered myself. Sometimes it is hard to sit down and sift through the bible to answer that one question you have. I love that this gives you an answer and then shows you where in the bible you can look to back up the answer.
I love that at the end of the book it walks you through the most important prayer; allowing Jesus into your heart.
I highly recommend this book for anyone that has children that is looking for a book that is easy and clear on the curious questions they often come to us with.
