Every week, I try to take a few moments to think about the blessings in my life. It looks a little different each week, but I can always find something to be thankful for in the little, everyday moments of life.
I struggled today. Really struggled. I almost did not write a Thursday Thanks Tank this week. Then I remembered that the whole point of my weekly post was trying to be thankful through not just the good times, but the bad times as well.
This week I am thankful that Jayden had a successful first two days of school.
He was not too thrilled about getting his picture taken, but he humored me.
Here he is in his seat at his table. A little more compliant about pictures.
I am thankful for the Lord’s strength. He was there with me this morning when Jayden had a meltdown and did not want to go to school. I had to endure crying, screaming, yelling, kicking, hitting, and biting. The only way I made it through the entire 1.5 hours was because of the strength that came from the Lord. It would have been so easy to just give in and keep Jayden home. But I knew it would only be worse the next time. With God’s help I was able to keep calm and persevere.
I am thankful for friends who understand. I have friends who have been there and can sympathize. I have friends who can pray and support me through this journey. I have friends who are willing to listen to me vent.
I am thankful for the sweet taste of a fresh can of coca-cola. It has been so long since I indulged in one because I have been trying to eat healthier. But due to this mornings circumstances, I decided I deserved one.
I am thankful that Jon has a job in which I can call him just about anytime I need to. I was able to call him and get a pep talk and get an energy boost during my struggles with Jayden this morning. He gave me strength and even talked to Jayden a couple of times. It helped immensely.
I am thankful for the big smile that Jayden had on his face when he came off the bus this afternoon. This mornings problems were long forgotten and he said he had a fun day.
I am thankful for a great dinner tonight with Jon and Jayden. We took just Jayden out to dinner to celebrate his first week of school. It was nice to get to talk to him and enjoy some time with just Jayden.
I am thankful that tomorrow is a new day.

Thanks for your post. I think I needed the reminder that I not only need to be thankful for the good things, but also the bad things. Without the bad things, we cannot learn and grow.
Was stopping by from SITS girls “leave your blog” link.
